I hear it all the time.

"We want to live in Lakewood Ranch."

My first question isn't, "Which village?"

It's simply, "Why?"

The answer tells me far more than the location itself. Some buyers are looking for a newer home. Others want resort-style amenities, top-rated schools, or to be closer to family. And some simply tell me, "We've been told that's the only place to live."

Sometimes Lakewood Ranch is exactly what they're looking for.

Sometimes it isn't.

That's why I always start by understanding what's driving the decision before we ever begin looking at homes.

Lakewood Ranch Isn't Just One Neighborhood

One of the biggest misconceptions about Lakewood Ranch is that it's a single neighborhood. It isn't.

It's a collection of villages, each with its own personality, home styles, amenities, and price points. Some neighborhoods have been here since the beginning of LWR with mature trees and established landscaping. Others are brand new, where neighbors are just beginning to build a community. Some appeal to golfers, while others attract growing families or buyers looking for maintenance-free living.

Saying you want to live in Lakewood Ranch is a great place to start, but it's only the beginning of the conversation.

The Right Community Starts with Your Lifestyle

When we talk about your priorities, the conversation usually changes. Questions like these help me understand what you're really looking for:

• ·       Is a newer home more important than mature landscaping?

• ·       Do you want an active social calendar or a quieter neighborhood?

• ·       Are good schools at the top of your list?

Sometimes the Best Fit Isn't Lakewood Ranch

Lakewood Ranch has earned its reputation, and for many buyers, it's absolutely the right choice. But not everyone is looking for the same lifestyle.

Some buyers discover they'd rather have an established neighborhood with larger lots. Others want to be closer to the beaches, downtown Sarasota, or the Manatee River. Some decide they don't need all of the amenities that come with a master-planned community.

The goal isn't to convince you to buy in Lakewood Ranch. The goal is to help you find the community that fits you best.

Do Your Homework Before You Visit

Many of my buyers are relocating from out of state and only have a day or two to tour homes.

The Bottom Line

Lakewood Ranch is a wonderful place to live, but it isn't the only wonderful place to live.

If you're considering a move, don't start with a neighborhood or area. Start with your lifestyle.
